This award is presented "to an openly lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender individual who has made a significant difference in promoting equal rights for any of those communities". In 2003, Clive Barker received The Davidson/Valentini Award at the 15th GLAAD Media Awards. Barker's second long-term relationship, with photographer David Armstrong, ended in 2009. It was in Liverpool in 1975 that he met his first partner, John Gregson, with whom he lived until 1986. Educated at Dovedale Primary School and Quarry Bank High School, he studied English and Philosophy at Liverpool University and his picture now hangs in the entrance hallway to the Philosophy Department.

I'll take any recommendations too! Whether it's another one of Clive's books or a book that is sort of like this one by a different author.Clive Barker was born in Liverpool, England, the son of Joan Rubie (née Revill), a painter and school welfare officer, and Leonard Barker, a personnel director for an industrial relations firm. Pretty sure it's my first book of Clive's and I'm hoping it won't be my last. In the end, I'm really happy that I dove into this. I'd like to blame this all on my horrible work schedule intervening into my reading one.

Of course, there was still a lot to keep track of and my brain did get confused for a time or two. With so much going on, I didn't want to misunderstand anything or forget something important either. Now I'm just going to say this, it's a huge book that deserves to be slowly devoured. The only thing I regret is not reading it last year but at least I can say that I finally knocked it off of my TBR. Mostly because I just suggested to give me a book that the person enjoyed. I honestly knew next to nothing about this but was very excited when I got it. Imajica is a book that I received in a book holiday exchange about two years ago.
